WHO YOU ARE BECOMING AS A MOTHER

From the moment you decided to become a mother, you started experiencing matrescence. Most mothers go through matrescence without knowing what it is. When your career has been a central part of who you are, that transformation can feel particularly disorientating. Who You Are Becoming is for mothers with established careers who want to make sense of who they are now, and make deliberate choices about their career and their future.

MATRESCENCE: THE COLLECTIVE

Five live online sessions delivered in a small group of mothers working through the same questions. The programme is informed by Mama Rising, the matrescence framework developed by Amy Taylor-Kabbaz, and adapted specifically for mothers with established careers. Career coaching runs throughout, so the work covers not just who you are becoming but what that means for the direction your career takes next. Doors open three to four times a year.

Cost: £299

SESSION ONE: YOU ARE NOT GOING BACK

Why you feel like a different person since becoming a mother, and why that is normal. When your identity has been built around your career over years, motherhood can change it in ways the people around you cannot see. This session talks about what is happening to you and gives it a name.

SESSION TWO: KINDNESS AND GRACE

The voice in your head that says you are not doing enough, at work or at home, and ties your worth to how much you produce. We discuss where that voice comes from and how to address it. We also look at the physicals effects motherhood can have on you, and why pushing through it is not the answer.

SESSION THREE: STRENGTH AND VALUE

What you value may have changed since becoming a mother. We work out what you actually care about now and ask the first big career question: does your work still reflect who you are? We also talk openly about how workplaces treat mothers.

SESSION FOUR: CONNECTION

We evaluate the support you have and the support you actually need, both at home and at work. We discuss the conversations you might be having or need to have with your partner. And we go deeper into the career question: does the direction you are heading still fit the woman you are becoming?

SESSION FIVE: TRUST THE WOMAN YOU ARE BECOMING

Everything comes together. Who you are now, what you value, and what you choose to build from here, in your life and in your career. You leave with a clear sense of direction, decided by you.

MATRESCENCE: The Bespoke

Five one to one coaching sessions exploring who you are becoming as a mother and what that means for your career. Each session is 90 minutes and scheduled around what works for you. The pace and depth follow what you bring to each session, and there is no need to wait for a group cohort to open. Two places are available each month.

GOT SOME

QUESTIONS?

WHAT IS MATRESCENCE?

Matrescence is the transformation a woman goes through in motherhood. It affects your identity, your emotions, your relationships and your values, and it begins before your baby arrives and can carry on for years. Most mothers go through experience it without knowing what it is.

DO I NEED TO HAVE COMPLETED THE MATERNITY PROGRAMME FIRST?

No. Who You Are Becoming works as a standalone programme. If you have completed the maternity programme you will already have some of the language we use, and you will receive a £50 discount.

HOW SOON AFTER HAVING A BABY CAN I JOIN?

There is no set window. Some women may join whilst still on maternity leave, for others it may be years after returning to work. If the questions on this page feel familiar, the timing is most likely right.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE COLLECTIVE AND THE BESPOKE?

The Collective is a group of up to 20 women working through the five sessions together. Bespoke covers the same five sessions one to one, shaped around you.

WHAT IF I MISS A SESSION?

Collective sessions are recorded and shared with the group, so you can catch up on anything you miss. Bespoke sessions can be rescheduled with more than 48 hours notice.

IS THIS THERAPY?

No. This is a group coaching programme. If at any point I think you would benefit from additional support, I will say so and point you in the right direction.

WHEN CAN I JOIN?

The Collective opens three to four times a year. Join the waiting list to hear when doors next open. Bespoke has two places available each month.

HOW LONG ARE THE SESSIONS?

Each session is 90 minutes.

WHAT TIME ARE THE COLLECTIVE SESSIONS?

The times and dates will be published when each cohort is opened.
